New Zealand beach wedding photography is something I get to do almost every summer, however this particular shoot was very special for a few reasons. I met Tash over a year ago when she first enquired for some family portraits – the rest from here is really history. Sometimes you meet people who are just so open and wonderful that you then go on to practically become part of their family, and that’s exactly what ensued. Both Tash and Mikes family welcomed me with open arms and now I feel like I photograph an event with them every other weekend!

These two got engaged…wait for it – On top of Mt Everest! After Mike being extremely nervous but  Tash convinced that he had altitude sickness  they finally made it to the top after a gruelling journey. Mike popped the question with the beautiful stone that you see around Tash’s neck which she then had made into a necklace. The beach that they married on is steeped in history for the two of them as they met there as surf lifesavers all those years ago.

I always have such a laugh with these two and I know I will for years to come.

Las Vegas Wedding Photography instantly stirs up ideas of Elvis, copious amounts of alcohol and a buffet dinner. Well this couldn’t be farther from the truth for Beth & Ryans stylish Vegas Wedding. I want to start by thanking a very good friend and beautiful soul, Bailey for recommending me to these two 🙂 I do love a destination wedding for more than the obvious reason (an amazing place!) but the intimacy of it all. Beth and Ryan had 20 of their closest friends and family join them over in Las Vegas.

There’s no way you’re going to miss Beth wherever she goes. I’ll never forget our first meeting –  it was like meeting this glamorous vixen from another era with this shock of pink hair and skin like milk. Of course instantly you just want to photograph her! So being able to photograph not only Beth but her marriage and these amazing moments with her new husband Ryan in an incredible place was an absolute joy. Their Wedding was held at the stunning MGM forever grand wedding chapel followed by some laid back drinks until we ventured out into the desert. Never have I been so paranoid about the Grooms attire! Ryan’s white suit was just asking for trouble in the red, sandy desert of Nevada.

These two are gorgeous inside and out and I had an amazing couple of days with them in the craziest place on earth!I sincerely hope I get to return to Las Vegas at some point for another Wedding, there really is no place like it.

I really love a Woodlands Wedding, it’s a beautiful historic venue just outside of Hamilton that has so much charm i can see why it’s popular with couples. Kayla and Troy’s Wedding was the last of my New Zealand season for this summer so it feels a little sad to be writing this!

These two are so laid back they’re practically horizontal and Kayla has to be the calmest bride I’ve ever had! She was so organised down to every detail that she had nothing to worry about on the day. A favourite moment was watching her (still in pyjamas) excitedly watch Troy and the boys arrive in their Mustang in the driveway below from the window.

It was a May wedding so we had beautiful autumn light the whole day and just the perfect amount of it, I adored Kayla’s vintage birdcage veil and demure makeup done by Kady Brown of be beautiful. Her chosen colour of yellow couldn’t be a better reflection of this happy day and the way she tied it through the decor was perfect.

It was an absolute privilege to be a part of this gorgeous couple’s wedding journey – right from the engagement session in the surf on a west coast beach through to seeing them just so besotted with each other on the big day.

I never thought I’d have the opportunity to document a goth wedding, and Vivien & Nicks was so much more. The moment I first met with them I knew I had to be their photographer – these two knew who they were, and they are awesome. They also own a cat, Ami who tried to attack me several times, which probably makes them cooler.

Viv is also an incredibly talented artist, so when she told me she was working closely with Jaimee Beck from Beckon Couture on a completely custom one-off piece, I got excited. However I couldn’t have imagined the divine beauty of the final dress in my wildest dreams! By far the most outstanding garment I’m yet to see, just jaw-dropping. And Nicks jaw reached China when he saw Viv. A goth wedding seemed a little scary to me at first – exposing all that black! But the textures and patterns made it a breeze. Partnered with the gown she did her own hair including making the headpiece (told ya she was talented!). The flawless makeup however is thanks to the lovely Kristy Hibbert of Black Diamond Makeup Artistry. I also adored the bridesmaids full length dresses from black milk clothing.

They married at Markovina estate in front of the Chestnut tree in April, the conditions were absolutely perfect. The aisle song was hauntingly beautiful,  ‘Passacaglia’, a piece of music from the 2004 sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica, composed by B. McCreary. We went into an evening reception followed by a first dance to Radioheads “Creep”  and what has to be the most epic father-daughter dance I’ve ever seen. Viv and her father swung each other around the room like it was a rock concert appropriately to Gun’s n Roses “Sweet child o mine”. Those pictures are some of my favourite so be sure to seek them out.

Viv & Nick, it was such a privilege to not only capture your wedding but now call you friends, thanks for having me and I wish we could do it all over again! I also wanted to give a special mention to the fabulous Nat Hugill for recommending me to Viv and shooting the first arrow. People like you Nat, helped me build my business and do what I love.

Muriwai beach is one of my favourite west coast beaches in New Zealand, stunning sea-moulded cliffs back onto endless black sand. It’s a beautiful location and I’ve been dying to shoot a session there for a while now. I was thrilled when Laura and Matt agreed to drive the distance to allow their engagement shoot to take place here and I think it was well worth the petrol.

I’ve known Laura for about ten years now from high school so I was honoured when she asked me to be her photographer. Photographing friends makes it such an easy experience and these two were so laid back they’re practically horizontal. Laura & Matt have been together since I can remember and are one of those couples who just have that effortless connection between them. I really felt that through the camera as I photographed them and it shows now in their smiles and body language.

Muriwai is also home to a vast gannet colony – I digress for a moment to recall my first memory here and being dive-bombed by a protective mother gannet!

To Laura and Matt, thank you so much for not only giving me the opportunity to photograph in this beautiful place but choosing me as your photographer for such a special time of your life. See you at the Wedding!
