Dani & Mike coromandel farm wedding

There is an abundance of talented coromandel wedding photographers, so it’s always a privilege when I get to travel to this beautiful part of NZ for a wedding. As soon as I met Dani I knew we would be fast friends, this girl is fabulous, funny and has one of the most infectious laughs I’ve ever heard. We clicked fast. I met Dani and Mike very early on into their wedding planning (which is always fantastic) and I instantly fell in love with their plans. Dani is also the creative blogging powerhouse behind we are anthology who you should check out.

They married this summer gone in the coromandel at Mike’s parents avocado orchard, I had visited previously one weekend and instantly fell in love with the sprawling grounds. Dani & Mike wanted to have a chic yet down to earth kiwi wedding with a intimate touch and this was just the perfect setting for them. We couldn’t have been luckier with the weather and it was one of New Zealand signature searing hot February days. I spent the morning with Dani and the girls and a whole lot of antics, including the bride being stung by a bee while her hair was in rollers! I probably should have helped more…but I just took photos of the situation. She forgave me 🙂

I was blown away seeing the bouquets for the bridal party – mostly because Dani and her girls made them all themselves from local wildflowers! Talk about kiwi ingenuity. They also did all of the floral styling for the ceremony and reception, busy bees! I was lucky enough to have my good friend and talented photographer Kate Wark second shooting for me so she spent documenting Mike & the guys swimming in the creek, putting in some last minute hard work and having a few beers. The boys really do have it easier on a wedding morning!

Dani stole hearts and breath as she floated down the aisle in a stunning Johanna Johnson creation and I think we all had tears in our eyes, a short and sweet ceremony full of plenty of laughter and banter. Guests enjoyed lawn games and roaming the grounds while we snuck away to a couple of local spots for portraits and I have to say everyone was such a good sport about getting wet, sandy and a couple of scrapes and bruises in the process. We returned to the reception held in their gigantic tipee on Mike’s parents lawn, lit and decked out with fairylight for an evening of food, emotion, and dancing.

A beautiful day and night for a wonderful couple, I know I’ll get to enjoy their company again sometime soon, congratulations once more you two!
